How this Project got started

A Passion for Swimming

Hi, my name is Stefanee Connors. Swimming has been a lifelong passion of mine- both as a competitive swimmer and as someone who understands the impact aquatic programs can have on health, confidence, and community. Over the years, I've experienced firsthand how transformative access to a safe, well-designed pool can be. I grew up in Washington state, where pools are plentiful, well-used, and swim teams often number in the hundreds. Being a part of that environment showed me firsthand the joy, community, and opportunities a strong aquatic program can provide.

Now living in Oklahoma, I've seen a different reality- many pools are closing due to high costs and deteriorating facilities, leaving communities without safe, accessible places to swim. I saw an opportunity to improve facilities for our children who strive to be professional swimmers, in addition to providing opportunities to offer health classes, lifeguard training, mermaid classes, and even scuba diving.  That's how the idea for our dome pool came to life. I have been a longtime fan of Monolithic Domes. The innovation, functionality, and energy efficiency had me hooked. I have been following Monolithic Dome Inc. for many years now. By using Monolithic Dome Inc., we can build a cost-effective, low-maintenance facility that serves athletes, families, and wellness enthusiasts alike.

My goal is to bring the benefits of swimming back to communities here- creating a space that fosters health, connection, and opportunity, just like I experienced growing up.  As I work with the City Council, Mayor, Coaches, and experts, I want to partner with you - the community - to bring to Yukon a facility that will add value to our town and to our neighboring towns, who are feeling the overwhelm of population on the minimal facilities that we do have. Let's work together to create something that benefits everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at sconnors@yukonaquatics.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A Monolithic Dome is a Super-Strong, energy-efficient structure built from a continuous form of concrete and rebar. It is FEMA approved- weather resistant, Low-maintenance, and long-lasting centuries instead of decades.

Dome construction cuts building costs and energy use DRAMATICALLY. Traditional indoor pools cost around $400 per square foot, while a dome structure reduces that by 50-75%. They also Maintain perfect indoor climates year-round- ideal for swimming, training, and rehabilitation.

Ultimately what this facility will include is up to you. Our goal is to have a year-round indoor competition- sized pool. Rehabilitation and therapy pool for sports medicine and recovery. Fitness and wellness areas. Community Use zones for classes, swim lessons, and adaptive programs.

The center is designed for everyone- from competitive swimmers and student athletes to seniors, veterans, and those in physical therapy. Our goal is to make it accessible and affordable to the entire Yukon Community and surrounding areas.

This is a community - driven project. We are Currently in the public input and feasibility study phase, ensuring the facility reflects what residents truly want before moving forward.

Dome construction means:

  • Lower Construction and utility cost
  • Build doesn't take as long the dome itself only takes a week. Less community upset with construction needs.
  • less maintenance due to dome self-supporting shape
  • resilience against Oklahoma's weather
  • Eco- friendly operation- smaller carbon footprint, reduced heating and cooling expenses.

This Project Will:

  • Create jobs and stimulate local business
  • provide Youth programs and recreation options closer to home.
  • Offer year-round wellness and therapy access
  • serve as a modern, sustainable landmark for the region.
  • Be the home of our Millers Swim Team

NO- Our goal is to improve community resources without increasing taxes. because this Monolithic Dome is extremely energy-efficient, disaster -resistant, and Low- maintenance the cost to build and operate it is much lower than a traditional facility. That means less financial risk for the city and no need for new tax funding.

While great community amenities can make an area more appealing, this project is designed to be sustainable - not drive-up housing prices or taxes. it's about stability not speculation.

The dome's design creates safe, affordable, and self-sustaining facility that benefits everyone without placing extra burden on taxpayers. It uses up to 60% less energy, resists severe weather, and last for decades with minimal upkeep- saving money every year is operates.

This approach lets Yukon Invest in health, wellness, and connection while protecting public funds and ensuring the project stays strong for generations.

Right now, we're focused on building community support and feasibility data. Once we have a clear plan backed by local feedback and city interest.

This Facility will operate as a Non-Profit so funding will come from donations, sponsorships and grants.  Our goal is to reserve the City's funding and not put any more burden on Taxpayers.
